Compensation: $1,500 - $2,000
Hours: Approximately 20 hours (summer preparation) + 15 hours (October–March, program duration)
About the Program
The Board of Rabbis of Princeton Mercer Bucks sponsors an Introduction to Judaism course for experienced Jews, curious non-Jews, and those exploring conversion. Taught by a rotating team of clergy, educators, and Jewish communal leaders from across the region, the course covers Jewish history, tradition, and community. The Coordinator serves as the organizational backbone of this collaborative program.
Position Summary
The Coordinator manages logistics, administration, communications, and marketing for the course, working closely with participating rabbis and Jewish professionals. Candidates with sufficient Jewish knowledge and teaching experience may also substitute teach on occasion.
Responsibilities
Summer Preparation (approximately 20 hours, June–September)
- Confirm course schedule, session topics, and teacher assignments with the Board
- Communicate with participating teachers regarding dates, materials, and expectations
- Prepare and distribute a course calendar and syllabus
- Manage recruitment, registration and student enrollment
- Arrange venue, technology, and course materials
- Prepare and distribute promotional materials across congregations, community organizations, and local media to drive enrollment
- Serve as primary contact for prospective students
During the Program (approximately 15 hours, October–March)
- Maintain communication with teachers and students; send reminders and updates
- Track attendance and student engagement
- Handle administrative tasks as they arise
- Substitute teach when the originally scheduled teacher is unavailable, if qualified
Qualifications
Required: Strong organizational and communication skills; comfort with email and scheduling tools; reliability and professionalism in a community setting.
Preferred: Familiarity with Jewish tradition and lifecycle; experience in adult or religious education; ability to substitute teach (background in Jewish studies, education, or clergy preferred).
