The Jewish Agency for Israel is seeking a dynamic and motivated Part Time (20 hours per week) Assistant to the Shinshinim Hub Director to support the implementation and growth of the Shinshinim (Israeli Young Emissaries) program in the Los Angeles area.

Position Overview

The Part Time Assistant to the Hub Director will work closely with the Hub Director and directly with the Shinshinim on a day-to-day basis. This role supports the successful implementation of the program across local institutions and helps ensure both professional excellence and personal well-being for the Shinshinim.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in introducing and presenting the Shinshinim program to local organizations
• Support outreach, marketing, and placement of Shinshinim in synagogues, Jewish day schools, JCCs, after-school programs, youth movements, and other community institutions
• Help coordinate and prepare host families for the Shinshinim
• Support the development and implementation of job descriptions with site supervisors
• Assist in planning and facilitating comprehensive orientations for Shinshinim, including meetings with site supervisors and community introductions
• Participate in weekly supervision meetings to assess goals, progress, and personal well-being
• Provide guidance in professional skills, time management, and navigating American work culture
• Support Shinshinim in their cultural transition, particularly during the initial adjustment period
• Help assess and respond to the evolving needs of partner organizations
• Provide ongoing day-to-day support and guidance to Shinshinim
• Participate in Jewish Agency orientations and conferences

Qualifications

• Strong Zionist identity and love of Israel
• College graduate
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and availability for urgent needs
• Experience in informal education (preferred)
• Familiarity with and knowledge of the Los Angeles Jewish community
