Grants Officer, Cultural Heritage Preservation

 

A NYC-based foundation seeks an experienced grants officer for a position with a primary focus on the digitization and preservation of documents, archives and artifacts of Jewish interest.  This grants officer will be part of a team of grants officers who relate to the areas of the foundation’s mission. The grants officer will collaborate with grant team members and the finance department to ensure effective and efficient grantmaking, grant monitoring, and grant reporting processes.  The grants officer acts as the critical bridge between the foundation and institutions (libraries, museums, archives) seeking to digitize and preserve historical documents and artifacts. They manage the full grant lifecycle—from reviewing proposals to monitoring project compliance and evaluating final outputs. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Library Science (MLS), Archival Studies, History, Museum studies or a related field. The position requires a balance of archival knowledge to understand the value of the materials as well as technical knowledge to ensure the digital preservation is sustainable and accessible.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards, digital imaging, archival storage technologies, and content management systems.
  • Experience in grant initiation, development, monitoring, analysis and private foundation processes.
  • Strong analytical thinking, project management, and written communication skills. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Remain current on research, activities, and trends in the area of digitization & preservation of documents, archives and artifacts of Jewish interest.
  • Identify opportunities for grant investment in in the area of digitization & preservation of documents, archives and artifacts of Jewish interest consistent with the Foundation’s mission
  • Participate in proposal review and due diligence processes
  • Monitor grantee compliance with grant agreements and reporting requirements
  • Generate reports for the board and/or committees of the board
  • Liaise with foundation’s legal team and finance office as part of grants management
  • Perform such other duties as might be required

 

COMPENSATION & WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Full-time hybrid work schedule (currently 3 days in NY office, subject to change)
  • Annual salary of $120,000.00 to $150,000.00 commensurate with experience
