Camp: Perlman Camp (Co-Ed Jewish Camp) Location: On-site June–August in Lake Como, Pennsylvania Employment Type: Seasonal Experience Required: 4–6 Years Education: Current licensed nurse (RN or LPN) in good standing
Perlman Camp is a coed Jewish sleep-away camp located on the scenic shores of Lake Como in the Pocono Mountains. For 71 years, we have provided a safe, welcoming, and fun environment where campers can grow, explore, and create lifelong friendships. Our program combines outdoor adventure, creative activities, sports, and Jewish learning, giving children the opportunity to build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.
Perlman Camp is seeking a dedicated, licensed nurse to serve as our Head Nurse for the summer. This is a unique opportunity to combine your medical expertise with a love of camp and working with children in a dynamic, outdoor setting. The Head Nurse will oversee the health center, coordinate with outside medication providers, manage nursing staff schedules, document medical care in the camp’s online system, and communicate with parents as necessary to ensure the highest standards of camper health and safety.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the camp health center, providing medical care to campers and staff.
Coordinate with outside pharmacies, medication providers, and healthcare professionals to ensure proper medication management.
Schedule, supervise, and mentor the health center staff and support counselors in health-related matters.
Document all medical care, treatments, and incidents accurately in the camp’s online health system.
Communicate with parents regarding camper health issues, medications, and any medical concerns.
Respond promptly to medical concerns and emergencies, providing care in accordance with licensing requirements and camp protocols.
Collaborate with camp leadership to maintain a safe, supportive, and fun environment for campers.
Participate in pre-camp training and support staff development regarding health and safety procedures.
Promote overall wellness, including preventive care and education, within the camp community.
Current licensed nurse (RN or LPN) in good standing.
Experience working with children and understanding the unique environment of overnight camp.
Strong leadership and organizational skills, including scheduling and supervising staff.
Comfortable documenting care in online systems and communicating professionally with parents.
Ability to work independently, make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment, and handle emergencies calmly.
Passion for camp life, outdoor activities, and fostering a positive experience for children.
