High Holiday Children's Song Leader

Temple Shalom is seeking a warm, energetic, and engaging Song Leader to lead our Children's High Holiday Services on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

This special 30-minute service is designed for young children participating in the childcare program offered during our High Holiday services. The program typically includes 20-30 children and is supported by teachers and babysitters on-site to ensure a safe and welcoming environment. It provides a meaningful, joyful, and age-appropriate High Holiday experience through music, storytelling, movement, and interactive participation.

Service Dates

• Rosh Hashanah: September 12, 10:30–11:00 AM
• Yom Kippur: September 21, 10:30–11:00 AM

Responsibilities

• Lead children and families in High Holiday songs
• Accompany yourself on guitar (preferred)
• Read and engage children with a High Holiday-themed story
• Create a welcoming, interactive, and age-appropriate atmosphere
• Collaborate with clergy and staff to ensure the service aligns with the overall High Holiday experience

Qualifications

• Experience working with children
• Strong musical skills and ability to lead group singing
• Guitar or piano accompaniment preferred
• Warm, enthusiastic, and engaging presence
• Familiarity with Jewish music and High Holiday themes preferred
• Availability on both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur service dates

Compensation
Compensation is $150–$200 per 30-minute service, depending on experience.
