Preschool 2s or 3s Head Teacher

Position Overview

The Head Teacher serves as the educational leader in the classroom and assumes primary responsibility for a group of children. This is a leadership role requiring organization, flexibility, collaboration, professionalism, and warmth.

Responsibilities include:

• Collaborate closely with the director, assistant teachers, and therapists to develop and implement an emergent curriculum
• Create a classroom environment that supports children’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth
• Supervises and mentors assistant teachers and classroom aides
• Establishes strong partnerships with parents through daily communication, weekly updates, and formal conferences
• Participate in professional learning and take initiative in their own growth as an educator
• Integrates Jewish customs and traditions meaningfully into classroom learning
• Physical requirements- frequently bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and regularly lift or carry loads between 25–40 lbs

Qualifications Needed:

• Early Childhood Certification and/or B.A. with a minimum of 12 credits in child development or early childhood/elementary education, OR NYS Certification (CDA), or actively working toward certification
• Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth in Early Childhood Education

Monday-Friday, 8:40 am-12:05 pm
