Temple Sinai of Glendale, California has an immediate opening for an Office Administrator and Community Engagement Coordinator. This is a permanent part-time position, 30 hours per week, and entails managing the synagogue’s office administrative functions and organizing our member volunteer program.
Office Administrative Responsibilities include: providing clerical support for the clergy and religious services/events, answering phones, managing e-mail correspondence, maintaining selected member databases and document inventories supporting membership, religious services, and life cycle events, monitoring security cameras and greeting visitors, assisting with mailings, ordering supplies, and maintaining files of official temple documents.
Community Engagement Responsibilities include: working with temple leadership to structure volunteer opportunities and assignments, liaising with members to encourage and support their participation in volunteer activities, and tracking results, and helping build a culture of community engagement through effective communications and positive reinforcement with members.
Skills required: A positive attitude as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Knowledge of Jewish life cycle events, holidays and terminology preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and a willingness and ability to learn new software. Ability to multi-task and to prioritize tasks. Detail oriented. College graduate preferred.
Compensation: This is a 30 hour per week, $22 an hour position.
