Who We Are:

Moishe (pronounced moy-shuh) House is what being Jewish in your 20s is all about. Launched in 2006 when four friends began hosting Shabbat dinners in their home, Moishe House provides a space for over 70,000 young adults around the world to create meaningful, welcoming Jewish communities for themselves and their peers each year. To date, there are more than 150 communities in over 40 countries, and we’re still growing!

Moishe House seeks an Associate Director, Russian Speaking Jewish (RSJ) Programs, to support new and existing RSJ houses and manage our RSJ team. You will maintain strong relationships with our existing RSJ funders by keeping them informed of our progress and vision, while also working to secure new funds to support our mission. The Associate Director, RSJ Programs ensures a high level of quality for all of our Russian Speaking Moishe Houses by proactively identifying challenges and opportunities within Houses, and coaching Community Managers toward solutions. This position reports to Moishe House’s Director, Global Communities.

All voices are needed at Moishe House (please see our identity statements for more detail). Every new member of the Moishe House team is an opportunity for us to introduce fresh perspectives, talent, and skills into our workforce and our communities. We seek employees from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and life experiences to join our team located in the United States, South America, Europe, and the former Soviet Union. Our vision, in part, is for a fair and equitable workplace, where diversity is celebrated and can truly flourish.

Who You Are and What You’ll Do:

You believe in our mission, have a passion for serving others, place a high value on being part of a team, and want to be part of a dynamic, inspirational Jewish organization.

You’re a skilled networker with a strong connection to the RSJ Jewish Community. You’ll develop relationships with Moishe House residents through remote interactions, site visits, and facilitating skills development. You’ll partner with our Expansion team to recruit residents for new and existing Moishe Houses through your social networks, and by building global connections.

As an RSJ Associate Director:

You’re organized and a problem-solver. You have exceptional project management and leadership skills. You’ll manage your team’s budget and metrics, and you’ll work on several projects at once. You’ll play a lead role in driving the RSJ resident conference and RSJ Learning Retreats. Your written, analytical, and organizational skills are just as strong as your verbal ones.

You’re a great mentor and facilitator. You will guide Moishe House residents to create meaningful, well-attended events and strong communities through training, setting expectations, achieving goals, and celebrating successes.

You’re a dynamic leader who can coach and motivate a team to achieve its metric goals. You will supervise a Jewish Educator and two or more Community Managers as they support and oversee Moishe Houses in their regions. You will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to overcome roadblocks that may hinder the team's success. Additionally, you will be responsible for sharing a compelling vision that inspires the team to do their best work. As a strong manager, you will ensure that the team meets the high standards and deadlines set, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the organization.

You’ll increase the visibility and awareness of Moishe House in relevant RSJ communities. You will utilize your expertise and experience to leverage our existing local presence within these communities to identify and pursue opportunities to build and strengthen relationships with both existing and new donors and community members. Additionally, you will collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that our outreach efforts are aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Through your efforts, you will help to establish Moishe House as a prominent and respected presence in the RSJ community.

  • You have a minimum of 3 years of full-time post-undergraduate professional experience, with supervisory experience, focusing on performance management, development, and coaching.
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Nonprofit Management, or another related field.

  • You have meaningful involvement within and bring knowledge of and experience with the Russian Speaking Jewish (RSJ) community, across the globe.
  • You are comfortable cultivating relationships with donors, making asks, and stewarding donor relationships to ensure long-term support.
  • You are skilled at managing data and administrative systems, such as Salesforce, and monthly reimbursements to residents. This includes reviewing and approving program reimbursements and submitting accurate and timely data to ensure the RSJ programs are financially supported.
  • You have a strong ability to accurately maintain and update historical program information in work systems and CRMs, ensuring data integrity and accessibility for future reference and analysis.
  • You have direct Moishe House experience as staff, resident, host, and/or community member (preferred).
  • You enjoy and are motivated by travel (regional and international). You can travel and work some nights and weekends, as needed for RSJ staff-led Retreats.
  • You embrace the Moishe Mindset: Be the Difference, Connect & Listen, Invest Wisely, Embrace the Unknown, Own It!, Value People, and Work Well, Live Well, Have Fun!
