About Us:
The Brotherhood Synagogue, located on Gramercy Park, is the largest Jewish congregation in downtown New York City with 800 member units. It is an independent, progressive community following the Conservative tradition. This combination allows the Synagogue to honor the spiritual and ethical heritage of the Jewish faith and celebrate the deep commitment and wide diversity of their membership. Brotherhood is a very special place - the beautiful, warm, and welcoming atmosphere provides a home for many synagogue activities, meaningful spaces for prayer and for celebrations, education for children of all ages, classes for adults, social outreach and other programs which support and enhance the community.

Brotherhood Synagogue Nursery School is a Reggio Emilia-inspired educational environment, located within the synagogue. We are committed to fostering a nurturing, creative, and inquiry-driven atmosphere where children’s curiosity and developmental needs are met with respect and care. Our Jewish values guide our daily interactions and provide a foundation for building meaningful community relationships. We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and dedicated Full-Time Head Teacher to lead our 2’s classroom.

Position Overview:

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching in an early childhood or nursery school setting, preferably with 2-year-olds.
  • Knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach and a strong interest in implementing its principles.
  • Passion for early childhood education, with a deep understanding of child development and a commitment to fostering a nurturing, play-based environment.
  • Experience incorporating Jewish traditions and values into educational settings is preferred but not required.
