Description

A nonprofit, social service, Jewish communal organization located in Middlesex County seeks a motivated, full-time Grant Writer/Development Associate interested in a growth position. This position reports to the Senior Development Officer (SDO), and also works collaboratively with the CEO and the board Development Vice President. Candidates are expected to display exceptional organizational, written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, and an ability to manage multiple priorities. Candidates will focus on identification, research, writing and management of grant proposals for government and institutional grants, corporate partnerships, and capital campaign. Successful candidates will develop strategies to engage and raise funds from multiple constituency groups. The Grant Writer/Development Associate will assist in expanding engagement with the business and philanthropic community, as well as in fundraising events. This position is onsite and includes occasional night and weekend hours.

 

Grant Writing and Management 

  • Research and identify new funding sources and opportunities, including institutional, government and family foundation grant funders and corporate partnerships
  • Write advancement grants, manage current grants and future grant opportunities
  • Manage grant process, including research, drafting and submission of grant proposals, impact statements and reports, preparation of grant financial and impact attachments
  • Oversight and reporting of grant and report timelines, processes and submissions
  • Liaison with the Finance Department as it relates to reconciling grant expenditures and obtaining budget items needed for grant reporting and applications
  • Consult with program staff to determine funding needs and accurately represent the organization’s new and ongoing programs to external audiences through reports, proposals, and other written materials

 Development Support

  • Support Senior Development Officer and assist in coordination and enhancement of annual and special campaigns, including annual giving programs, Tribute card and Certificate program, Board Giving and Capital Campaign
  • Create and implement effective communication strategies with impactful messages inspiring others to accomplish the mission and cause
  • Work closely with SDO to create new donor programs and identify and engage new donor cohorts
  • Assist SDO in development and promotion of culture of philanthropy including creativity, teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement

 

Qualifications

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, cooperation and collaboration, plus a self-motivated, proactive, self-starter
  • BS degree from an accredited institution required, in related field or equivalent preferred
  • Two to three years of development/fundraising experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to engage with and relate to community leaders and stakeholders, as well as diverse groups of people from all social, economic, ethnic, cultural and faith communities
  • Superior attention to detail, with excellent analytical skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment, with a commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and Gmail/GSuite
  • Knowledge of prevalent donor database systems preferred
