Programming Coordinator P/T

$28–$32/hour | Hybrid | Flexible Hours | Reports to the Executive Director

Do you love bringing people together, creating memorable experiences, and making ideas come to life?
The Woodbury Jewish Center (WJC) — a warm, welcoming, and inclusive Conservative synagogue on Long Island’s North Shore — is looking for a Part-Time Programming Coordinator to help shape and deliver engaging events for our vibrant community.

This hybrid position is perfect for someone who is highly organized, enjoys collaborating with passionate volunteers, and takes pride in turning a concept into a smooth, well-run event. If you like variety, creativity, and seeing the joy your work creates, you’ll feel right at home here.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Meaningful Work – Your efforts directly build community and strengthen Jewish life.
  • Creative Freedom – Help design and enhance programs that are fun, inspiring, and impactful.
  • Collaborative Spirit – Work with friendly, dedicated clergy, staff, and volunteers who value your ideas.
  • Flexibility – Hybrid schedule, with the ability to do much of the work from home.
  • Community Energy – Be part of a thriving congregation that loves to gather, celebrate, and learn.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the go-to staff lead for all synagogue programs — from smaller synagogue events and school programs to internationally renowned guest speakers.
  • Partner with program chairpersons and volunteers to take events from concept to completion.
  • Coordinate logistics: registration, room setup, tech needs, vendors, and more.
  • Keep programs on track — managing budgets, timelines, and approvals.
  • Provide on-site support at select programs to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Gather feedback and help make the next event even better.

What We’re Looking For

  • People Person – You enjoy working with volunteers, vendors, and community members.
  • Organized Multitasker – You can juggle timelines, simple budgets, and details without missing a beat.
  • Problem-Solver – You stay calm and resourceful when the unexpected happens.
  • Tech-Friendly – Social media experience is a big plus (but not required), especially for capturing and sharing program moments.
  • Openness to Tradition - Comfortable working in a synagogue setting
  • Flexible Schedule – Available for occasional evening or weekend programs.

Perks & Benefits

  • Hourly rate of $28–$32, based on experience.
  • Hybrid work arrangement with flexible hours.
  • Be part of a mission-driven team that values creativity and collaboration.
  • See your work come to life in events that bring joy, learning, and connection to hundreds of people.
