Kehillat Israel is seeking an experienced Communications and Marketing Director to spearhead and streamline our outreach and messaging to congregants, preschool and religious school families, the local community and beyond. Position Overview:

The Communications and Marketing Director is a key position that works directly with the Executive Director and each department to update, create, and manage consistent and cohesive branding, messaging, and PR across the entire organization using a variety of mediums including social media channels. This position also offers the opportunity to work closely with our clergy and other lay leaders on KI’s programming to present communications that excite and intrigue the existing KI community as well as the larger population, both locally and those living outside our geographic vicinity.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree and/or 5+ years of equivalent professional experience in the field (both preferred, at least one required)
  • Demonstrated experience of managing large-scale projects
  • Familiarity with synagogue life, previous work in a synagogue, or religious workplace is preferred
  • General Judaic knowledge (such as holidays observed) is preferred
  • Prior experience in non-profit environment strongly preferred
  • Experience and expertise in the following:
    • Microsoft Office (required)
    • G-Suite (Google) (required)
    • ShulCloud (preferred)
    • Adobe Creative Cloud (preferred)
    • Video Editing Experience (preferred)
  • Ability to skillfully communicate with clarity, diplomacy, and tact
  • Ability to understand the differing audiences for various communications/collateral and make adjustments while maintaining organizational consistency and quality
  • Ability to edit others’ work in a constructive and positive manner
  • Ability to use and integrate input from KI staff, lay leaders, and others into work product
  • Ability to work well with others as a collaborative team player whether in daily conversations with KI staff, committee meetings with lay leaders, interactions with KI congregants, and the public at large
  • Ability to represent KI in a positive and effective way; ability to be a strong, knowledgeable, and professional public interface
  • Ability to support programmatically-involved lay leaders in successful communications and programs
  • Ability to oversee large-scale, interdepartmental projects including possessing the necessary organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task, perform under pressure, and meet deadlines while maintaining poise and respect for others
  • Ability to nimbly pick up new software platforms as the technologies/trends dictate
