LOCATION
DOROT Westchester, located in White Plains, is a satellite location to our NYC headquarters. The Administrator will work 3 days per week primarily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; however, these days are subject to change occasionally based on business needs. Time will be spent in the office, in the field, and occasionally working remotely.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Program Administrator will expand the reach of DOROT’s Aging Alone Together (AAT) program – one of our strategic growth initiatives – within Westchester County’s Jewish community. AAT is a transformational six-week workshop series that provides tools, strategies, and support for solo agers to age successfully, make end-of-life plans, and build community. Aligned with DOROT’s mission, AAT fosters social connections while providing information and resources on topics including social and support networks, where to live, advance care planning, financial and legal matters, and planning for emergencies.
This is a multi-functional and creative position for a person who is detail-oriented, capable of representing DOROT with a variety of audiences, and enthusiastic about performing a combination of outreach, group facilitation, and administrative work.
This position is funded by a one-year grant which no expectation of continuing further.
PRIMARY RESONSIBILITIES
- Be a proactive member of the DOROT Westchester team, contributing to the achievement of AAT program and constituent goals.
- Plan and implement four AAT workshop series in partnership with Jewish organizations throughout Westchester County, taking lead responsibility for logistics, older adult recruitment, community building, and partner arrangements.
- Identify and conduct outreach to synagogues and Jewish organizations.
- Build and coordinate community partnerships to bring AAT to the constituents of individual community partners.
- Organize all aspects of the schedule of workshops for the grant year, with three series conducted in person at partners’ sites and one online drawing participants from a network of Jewish entities.
- Be DOROT’s point-of-contact for all potential registrants and participants of these four workshops: answer questions, provide support, and encourage continued engagement with DOROT and AAT alumni post-program offerings.
- Act as the lead facilitator for each AAT session.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer discussion leaders for the small group discussions that are part of each session.
- Collaborate and communicate with staff in DOROT’s Manhattan and Westchester offices, community partners, and older adults via email, telephone and in-person conversations to ensure successful execution of AAT programming.
- Work with other staff to develop, modify, and implement administrative systems and procedures for new and evolving program needs.
- Perform administrative tasks such as preparing/distributing materials and collecting/entering participation data, constituent interactions, and partner relationships using DOROT’s online database (Salesforce platform).
- Support the Regional Director in analyzing data and AAT program outcomes for funder and other reporting needs.
- Represent DOROT at outreach and other community events as needed.
- Assist with other tasks and projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of one year of professional experience with a background in social work, teaching, or similar field;
- Previous success in facilitating group discussions;
- Highly skilled communicator, including active listening and an empathetic and warm, conversational style;
- Ability to share detailed information clearly and concisely, build positive relationships, and adapt to the needs/expectations of various individual and group audiences;
- Strong organizational, administrative, and customer service skills;
- Ability to successfully follow a written and organized program format, including scripted prompts, while also being able to pivot for unexpected elements in a program conversation;
- Demonstrated ability to proactively solve problems and to work independently and as a collaborative team member;
- Knowledge of, and connections in, Westchester’s Jewish community is highly preferred;
- Affinity for working with older adults and interest in topics related to aging well and solo aging;
- Comfort with MS Office Suite, primarily Word and Excel, and knowledge of databases a plus.
This is a non-exempt, part-time, temporary position and candidates can expect an hourly rate of $24.75.
