HFBA’s mission is to ensure that all Jews, especially those without family or financial resources, are able to receive a proper Jewish burial. While we typically arrange at least 300 burials each year, we believe that number is only scratching the surface.
The purpose of this role is to spearhead outreach efforts with potential referral sources in order to significantly increase the numbers of people we serve each year.
Because most of the people we serve lack strong family/community support and financial resources, they often fall through the cracks of society. This role will be critical in proactively identifying potential referral sources, establishing and maintaining relationships with them, ensuring they know who HFBA is, the services it provides and how it works in order to greatly increase the number of people HFBA is able to serve each year.
A main focus of this role will be to cultivate a network of nursing homes and other long term care facilities where many of the people we serve reside and ultimately pass away. We want to be pro-active in raising awareness of the crucial need for all residents in such facilities to have end of life plans in place and to educate social workers and their administrators about HFBA’s services. The candidate will work closely with HFBA’s funeral arrangement team and our funeral director.
This position necessitates an organized and well-spoken individual with social work, client care or marketing experience, and fluency in a second language besides English is a plus. It is essential that the candidate is comfortable calling facilities and speaking at their staff meetings. Excellent phone skills are required for outreach and follow-up. Knowledge of Excel a must.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to) - Record keeping: updating care facility database and maintaining the data. Writing detailed and articulate memos and correspondence.
Job entails willingness to travel to facilities in the greater NYC metro area.
