Certified Music Teacher

Position Description  

Jewish Day School of the Lehigh Valley seeks an inspiring certified Music teacher. The ideal candidate is a charismatic adult who is committed to a child centered and differentiated approach to student learning and achievement. This teacher is creative, hardworking, and flexible enough to move seamlessly between teaching the different disciplines in a classroom.  

Qualifications 

• Strong interpersonal communication skills and experience establishing robust partnerships with students, colleagues, and parents 

• Expertise in using differentiated instruction to reach a range of learners 
• Three to five years’ teaching experience in a school setting 
• Strong collaboration skills 

• A demonstrated growth-mindset approach and commitment to continuous improvement 
• Teaching Certificate required 

Responsibilities 

• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that are structured, multi-sensory and targeted to individual learning styles to facilitate active learning and assist students in achieving their potential  

• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the disciplinary systems of the School 
• Effectively differentiate instruction to meet the various needs of students, including whole group, small group, and individualized instruction 
• Create a sense of community and belonging among students where each individual student is celebrated for his or her identity and strengths  

• Provide students with specific, actionable feedback and grades 
• Communicate with parents proactively, positively, and professionally to support the academic, social-emotional, and physical needs of students 
• Work with the academic support team to provide accommodations for students with specific learning needs 

• Perform other duties to support the division and/or school as a whole 
• Attend in­-services, faculty meetings, teacher workdays, and professional development opportunities
