The Davis Academy, an independent Kindergarten Prep - Eight Grade school in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs, seeks an experienced part-time Early Elementary Art Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. The Davis Academy offers an outstanding work environment and a caring professional community. Salary is based on experience.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Education or relevant field.

· Three years of teaching experience (independent school experience preferred, but not required)

· Valid GA Professional Standards Commission approved certificate in appropriate educational field

The ideal candidate will posses

· An ability to cultivate a supportive and encouraging environment that nurtures students' creativity and confidence.

· Understanding of child development and how it relates to art education.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

· Proficiency in various art mediums and techniques suitable for early childhood education.

· Knowledge of age-appropriate art curriculum development and implementation.

· Familiarity with educational technologies applicable to art instruction.

Essential Functions

· Develop and implement art curriculum aligned with the school's standards and objectives.

· Create a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment conducive to artistic exploration and expression.

· Plan and conduct engaging art lessons that cater to the developmental needs of Mechina: Kindergarten Prep through 2nd-grade students.

· Assess student progress through observation, projects, and other appropriate methods, and provide constructive feedback.

· Maintain accurate records of student attendance, artwork, and assessments.

· Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art into interdisciplinary learning experiences.

· Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, upcoming projects, and events.

· Manage art supplies, equipment, and resources effectively, ensuring a safe and organized studio environment.

· Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.

· Supervise students during art-related activities outside the classroom, such as art shows, exhibits, and field trips.

· Perform any other duties as assigned by the Principal.
