Rochelle Zell Jewish High School is searching for an energetic and innovative Director of Student Activities who will lead the informal curriculum of the school. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader in Jewish summer camps, youth groups, or other informal educational settings.  The Director of Student Activities will be a member of the Student Life team and will report to the Director of Jewish Life.

Rochelle Zell Jewish High School creates a culture of academic excellence that inspires our students to think critically and achieve their full potential, while preparing them to live Judaism as responsible and involved citizens in the modern world. The school is affiliated with both the Lake Michigan Association of Independent Schools (LMAIS) and the Prizmah Center for Jewish Day Schools and draws from Jewish students across the denominational spectrum and from more than twenty unique communities.

The Director of Student Activities will:

  • Work with the Student Life team to promote the student-centered ethos of the school, one where we seek to create meaningful Jewish experiences and genuine relationships among students of all ages.
  • Supervise student club life in our 25+ clubs, working with faculty advisors to ensure that every student finds an outlet in school life outside of the classroom, along with serving as a faculty advisor as needed.
  • Advise and work closely with Va’ad HaStudentim (Student Government) to represent students and serve as liaison to administration.
  • Work with and/or support the Student Life team to coordinate school-wide programs, including Holiday programming, Homecoming, and Prom.
  • Work with the Student Life team and Va’ad Shabbatonim to plan Shabbatonim, including those for 9th and 10th grade students in the fall, and the schoolwide Shabbaton in the spring. Planning requires extensive organizational skills and includes, but is not limited to, booking facilities, planning meals, transportation and activities, drafting room assignments and other groupings, and supervising supporting staff and student leaders.
  • Work with the Institutional Advancement team in support of Recruitment and Marketing efforts and events.
  • Assume other duties as assigned

The Director of Student Activities is a full time position. The candidate must have strong written, verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills and will serve as a role model for our students.
