About the Center for Jewish Philanthropy (CJP)

The Center for Jewish Philanthropy of Greater Phoenix unites the Jewish Community Foundation and the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix into a single, dynamic organization. With over 130 years of combined service, CJP strengthens Jewish life and leadership in Greater Phoenix, Israel, and around the world through community building, education, and philanthropy.

Position Summary

CJP is seeking a mission-driven, outcomes-oriented Director of Combating Antisemitism to lead the development, execution, and evaluation of our local strategy to address rising Jew-hate. This newly created role will drive cross-sector partnerships, engage the broader community, and implement educational and advocacy initiatives with measurable impact.

Reporting to the Vice President of Community Engagement, the Director will work independently within CJP’s Engagement Department, serving as a thought leader, convener, and implementer. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to translate conversations into partnerships—and partnerships into action. This role requires focus, initiative, and a strong commitment to follow-through, with independent project management and close collaboration within the Engagement team. The Director will work closely with lay leaders as essential partners in this work and must bring professionalism, clarity, and a collaborative spirit to these important relationships, including across diverse perspectives.

Evening and weekend availability is expected for community events, convenings, and timely response to relevant incidents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Leadership:
    • Develop and lead a community-wide strategy to address antisemitism in public discourse, education, and civic life.
    • Serve as CJP’s primary resource on antisemitism-related issues across sectors and within the Jewish Federation system, attending or briefing leadership attending relevant national and international gatherings.
    • Collaborate and support lay leaders, funders, and partner organizations to align efforts and optimize resource direction.
    • Serve as the primary staff partner to the Combating Antisemitism Task Force (a group of 10-12 high-level Jewish and non-Jewish lay leaders) —coordinating meetings, advancing strategic goals, and working with senior leadership to evolve its structure and create subcommittees or working groups as needed.
  • Relationship Building & Coalition Engagement:
    • Build and maintain deep, values-aligned relationships with civic leaders, school officials, law enforcement, clergy beyond the Jewish community, and other potential partners in the effort to combat anti-Jewish hate while empowering lay leaders to share ownership and sustain these connections.
    • Use a strategic, values-based approach to identify allies and avoid performative or misaligned engagements.
    • Represent the Jewish community in public meetings, briefings, and multi-faith coalitions.
  • Education & Community Engagement
    • Lead educational efforts across K–12 (both Jewish and non-sectarian) schools, higher education, and communal spaces, including teacher training and curriculum partnerships.
    • Coordinate public events, speaker series, and film screenings using trusted educational resources.
    • Support community response following antisemitic incidents or major news events.
  • Advocacy & Public Messaging
    • Proactively draft and propose public messaging strategies to challenge antisemitism and misinformation across social and traditional media, coordinating closely with senior leadership for review and approval before dissemination.
    • Identify and engage credible external voices to amplify CJP’s messaging and draft communications that reflect the organization’s stance, ensuring collaboration with leadership and partners for review and alignment.
  • Evaluation & Impact
    • Define clear metrics for success and regularly report on program impact to leadership, funders, and the community.
    • Monitor local and national trends in antisemitism to adapt strategy and initiate/implement programs accordingly.
  • Fundraising & Resource Development
    • Identify funding opportunities and collaborate with CJP’s development team on proposals, reporting, and donor engagement.
    • Ensure alignment between donor interest and programmatic goals.
