United Hatzalah is the largest independent, non-profit, fully-volunteer emergency medical services organization that provides first response care in Israel within minutes of the initial call of distress. 

Friends of United Hatzalah, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which supports the work of United Hatzalah of Israel, is seeking a Finance Specialist, Accounts Payable and Procurement to join our expanding US-based team. 

This full-time position based in our NYC headquarters (hybrid work schedule) will be a key member of the Accounts Payable and Procurement team, supporting the full “procure-to-pay” AP cycle.   The Finance Specialist will work closely with other department personnel and serve as a key liaison for procurement, expenses and payments across the organization’s programs and departments. 

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and methodical, able to flourish in a fast-paced environment, and have a strong passion for Israel and our lifesaving mission.  The position reports to the Associate Accounting Manager.

Principal duties and responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable

  • Review and process a high volume of a variety AP submissions
  • Administer timely and accurate data entry
  • Communicate with outside vendors and other team members on AP-related matters
  • Report on status of AP submissions and review AP trackers for processing issues
  • Plan for and assist with preparation of vendor payments
  • Assist with AP-related activities required for month-end close

 Procurement

  • Perform a variety of clerical duties related to procurement, including preparation of and/or review of purchase orders, requisitions and vendor quotations
  • Collaborate across teams to proactively exchange information and coordinate activities, enabling timely and efficient purchases
  • Process, verify and maintain procurement- and vendor-related forms and documents
  • Follow-up with departments to verify information and receipt of goods and services
  • Maintain procurement-related databases and trackers with a high degree of accuracy

Qualifications:

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Undergraduate degree with demonstrated experience with accounts payable, data entry, or similar work
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts, accounts payable and accrual procedures
  • Previous experience in a high-volume environment
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to prioritize, with strong attention to detail, initiative and follow-through
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and MS Office applications including Excel
  • Experience within a non-profit environment strongly preferred

Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000 annual salary, with comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, retirement plan with employer match, and paid holidays/time off.
