Job Description:

The Westminster Association for Temple Youth (WAFTY) is a non-profit program with a goal to make an impact in both the Jewish and local communities. The WAFTY program aims to bridge the gap of understanding through rewarding and fun activities, while supporting a passion for Judaism. This program will provide leadership and planning skills, along with great work experience. WAFTY provides quality youth experience to the Jewish community that focuses on building achievement and belonging through forming bonds and relationships among Jewish youth and Jewish families. The WAFTY program is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Youth Leader who will help strengthen and empower the youth, while making an impact, using the teachings of Judaism, and empowering our Jewish community.

The WAFTY Youth Leader will serve as a youth advisor for both our Junior (6th - 8th grade) & Senior (9th -12th grade) youth groups. As a WAFTY Youth Leader it is anticipated that there will be WAFTY meeting every 1-2 months. There will also be a Senior and Junior youth event every 1-3 months, and a one-time event for the 4th & 5th graders, preferably in the second half of the school year to build anticipation about the program.

Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Leadership and decision-making skills
• Organizational skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

Beth David Leadership Services:
• Directly collaborate, communicate and coordinate with the Youth Program Trustees for supervision and direction
• Work closely and support the WAFTY leadership (Youth Program Trustees), Rabbi, Director of Education, and the synagogue leadership

Youth Program Services:
• Adhere to program standards
• Planning, preparing and leading program activities and events
• Assisting with scheduling the Youth Calendar
• Maintain a database that contains images and information to support the program
• Attend and participate in all WAFTY meetings and events
• Support the youth program in meeting WAFTY regional requirements
• Contribute ideas for activities and events
• Assist in publicizing events, activities, and recruitment
• Coordinate and collaborate with Youth Leaders from other synagogues
• Assist by being the facilitator between youth services and the parents
• Perform other duties as assigned

Youth Support:
• Assist in the registration process
• Provide supervision at all program activities and events
• Chaperone all program events, which include local and abroad
• Help manage behavior by providing positive role modeling
• Possess strong character values, communication skills, and emotional maturity
• Cultivate positive relationships
