The Rabbi Barry H. Greene Early Childhood Center at Temple B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills, New Jersey, is a vibrant, warm, welcoming, inclusive, and thriving Early Childhood Center with robust and engaging programming and curricula that nurture each child’s growth and development.

Our classrooms are bustling with creative programming, excitement, learning, laughter, friendships, and fun! Our developmentally appropriate, play-based, rich, emergent curriculum is implemented with the intention and expert guidance of our extraordinary teachers. We pride ourselves on our generous child-to-teacher ratio and we are eager to hire a highly credentialed and experienced Preschool 3’s Head Teacher, Pre-K 4’s Head Teacher, and a Kindergarten Co-Head Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Develop weekly plans and implement age and developmentally appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of a child’s development, differentiating among students.

· Provide an orderly, friendly, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. On an on-going basis, plan and evaluate the physical environment to provide opportunities to meet the changing needs of the children and to stimulate interest in themes and lessons.

· Enhance the learning environment by nurturing and encouraging students to take risks, explore new ideas, express creativity, and socialize with others, while building on each student’s individual strengths.

· Perform on-going developmental evaluations of children to include anecdotal notes to identify areas of strength and plan for areas of growth potential.

· Maintain clear, warm, authentic, and positive on-going communication with parents including weekly newsletters and photographs, progress report phone calls, and Parent/Teacher conferences.

· Provide a classroom environment that welcomes parent participation.

· Maintain accurate and complete records, according to requirements of our school.

· Participate in on-going professional development opportunities. Attend Temple-wide holiday celebrations, ECC programs and special events.

· Maintain a positive and professional attitude while collaborating with colleagues.

· Provide a healthy, safe, clean environment for all children.

· Manage confidential information and respect the privacy of both faculty and TBJ families.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in education, Master’s Degree in Education preferred.

• A minimum of two years prior Preschool 3’s, Pre-K 4’s and/or Kindergarten teaching experience.

• Passion and energy to provide warm, innovative, and positive experiences for our children and families, and establish authentic and reciprocal relationships with families.

• Candidate must be patient, flexible, energetic, self-motivated, creative, and adept at thinking of new and innovative ways to engage children to learn.

• Strong ability to work well with all children, including children who have a challenging time expressing themselves or those who present with developmental delays and/or learning differences.

• Must be kind and empathetic to children's emotions and to the needs of parents and caregivers.

• Adept at implementing a curriculum to enhance the children’s spiritual experience of the beauty and joy of Jewish culture, tradition, and heritage. This includes the celebration of Shabbat, the Jewish holidays, Tikkun Olam, and our connection to Israel.

• Must always maintain an overall positive and professional attitude and be supportive of colleagues and other members of the faculty and staff working at TBJ.

• Must be a collaborative educator who readily shares ideas and maintains a team philosophy.

• Possess strong writing and speaking skills; including a unique ability to deliver children's progress to parents with sensitivity and professionalism.

• Must be computer literate and able to upload and share classroom photos weekly.

• Possess knowledge of Developmentally Appropriate Practice and Intentionality in Action and be eager to learn more about various educational philosophies and ideas. Requirements include creating and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, lesson plans, spiraling curriculum, knowledge of stages of child development and the ability to use a wide range of multi-sensory teaching strategies.

• Plan and implement curriculum to achieve important goals in language and literacy, mathematics, science, technology, social emotional learning, creative art, and fine and gross motor activities.
