Lanaar is a Chabad-inspired Elementary/Middle School located in Miami, Florida.  It aims to provide a rigorous Kodesh curriculum and an excellent secular curriculum while personalizing learning. The school is located in Aventura and serves the Surfside/Bal Harbor and surrounding Miami communities. It began in 2017 with 15 students; in the 2023-4 school year, it had an enrollment of 174 students in six grades, and is growing grade by grade, year by year.  It is developing plans for a large, purpose-built campus. Lanaar serves boys and girls albeit in separate classes.  This is a rare opportunity to make an impact in a school which is already regarded as a leader and a model.

The Head of Kodesh (“HoK”) is responsible for the Kodesh classroom curriculum throughout the school, and for initiating and leading other school activities which establish the Jewish ethos the school seeks to foster. 

Duties and terms of the Head of Kodesh:

• The HoK determines curriculum content and structure.  Candidates must be able to show ability in curriculum design in diverse areas of Kodesh teaching , and awareness of classroom pedagogic standards.
• Lanaar serves a fairly diverse religious and social parent body. All school families subscribe to the school philosophy, yet today’s Jewish family/Jewish community is rapidly changing in many ways.  The HoK must be sensitive to those changes and their impact on the students, while able to devise and suggest effective methods of transmitting the inspirational beliefs the school was established to promote.  At the core of those beliefs are the values of Chabad. 
• The HoK is responsible for locating and recruiting Kodesh staff.  
• The HoK will regularly visit classrooms, and maintain performance files on all Kodesh staff.  The HoK will be proactive in recommending professional development and enrichment.  Lanaar aims to be constantly improving and enriching the professional and spiritual life of its staff.
• The HoK will draw up a budget for all activities for which s/he is responsible and submit it to the Head of School (HoS) within the overall budget process of the school.
• The HoS may refer questions regarding school operations or procedures to the HoK for resolution. The HoK may draw the attention of the HoS to situations which s/he feels need attention.
• Salary and benefits will be by negotiation.  Lanaar aims to be an exemplary employer.  Vacation entitlement and Sick Day entitlement will be uniform with those of the Heads of School.
