Agudas Achim Congregation is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator to work with others in the Religious School and Youth Program to oversee specific programs offered to our community’s children, teens, and their families. The position will work with staff managing Judaics, Hebrew, T’fillah, teacher training and coordination, inclusion, and B’mitzvah students, among other areas, to serve as the focal point for the community. The ideal candidate is passionate about fostering Jewish identity and values in a vibrant, inclusive congregational setting. This position requires strong organizational, communication and project management skills, as well as experience in supervising staff and managing logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
-Work with other staff members and an Administrative Assistant in the Religious School and Youth Program, to provide oversight and coordination for the Religious School and Youth Program.
- Provide day-to-day management for the Religious School and Youth Programs in coordination with with Administrative Assistant, and in coordination with staff working on Judaics, Hebrew, T'filah, Inclusion, Teacher Coordination, and B’mitzvah.
- Serve as the main point of contact for parents, including timely and effective communication with families and staff regarding programming and logistics.
- Coordinate and communicate with key synagogue staff, including the designated Administrative Assistant and Executive Director.
- Oversee and supervise the Religious School Administrative Assistant.
- Provide on-site support during school hours on Sunday mornings, and provide virtual support during Wednesday evening virtual school hours.
- Collaborate with the Youth and Religious School Committee (YRSC) and Board Youth Vice President(s) to support planning and implementation of programs.
- Work with Teacher Coordinator regarding additional teacher hiring, in coordination with the Youth and Religious School Committee, including managing coverage for staff absences.
- Coordinate with the Youth and Religious School Committee, Executive Director, and Administrative Assistant to help prepare the budget.
Qualifications:
- Experience in team projects, program coordination and management, and/or education administration (preferably in a Jewish or nonprofit setting)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong decision-making and collaborative problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on multiple tasks at the same time and to collaborate with a diverse team
- Comfortable with supervising staff and working with families
- Familiarity with Jewish customs, values, and educational practices is a plus
Schedule: This is a part-time position of 20-25 hours a week with required on-site hours on Sundays during the school year and remote availability on Wednesdays. Compensation is $35–$40 per hour, commensurate with experience.
