For almost 25 years, JCADA has served the Greater Washington, DC community by empowering survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) to live safely and educating youth about healthy relationships. Today, JCADA provides free counseling and victim advocacy support to IPV survivors. Job Summary
JCADA Therapists empower survivors of IPV by helping them build tools and coping strategies that reduce trauma-related symptoms and increase their emotional and physical safety. This position is supervised by the Director of Clinical Supervision and the Director of Clinical Operations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with the Clinical Team to:
- Provide counseling to victims of intimate partner violence
- Ability to provide 1-1 therapy sessions, and facilitate therapy groups
- Communicate in a timely manner with clients
- Assess client needs using internal forms
- Safety plan with survivors
- Provide referrals for clients when appropriate
- Utilize trauma-informed practices and other evidence-based modalities
- Provide psychoeducation to clients
- Coordinate with the Advocacy team to develop a service plan that meets clients’ needs for physical and emotional safety
- Ability to work with clients one evening per week
- Maintain records & documents
- Uphold confidentiality
- Regularly update case notes
- Utilize client database
- Maintain an up-to-date and accurate listing of resources and referral partners

- Strong interpersonal, active listening, oral and written communication, and problem-solving skills
- Punctuality both in the workplace and responding to clients in a timely manner
- Sensitivity to the needs of members of diverse cultural backgrounds and diverse socio-economic backgrounds
- Well-organized
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to learn new systems and tools to better assist clients
Education and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or related field
- Maintain at least the equivalent of an LMSW license
- Demonstrated interest or experience in working with survivors of IPV is preferred
- Prior knowledge or willingness to learn about the unique needs of Jewish survivors of IPV
Salary: $60,000-65,000 plus benefits, including: short-term disability, long-term disability, life insurance, medical, dental, and vision insurance plan, SIMPLE Individual Retirement Account with match up to 3%, unlimited paid time off, and more. The value of our package offered is approximately $12,000. This position is contingent upon grant funding.
This position is full time and hybrid. Most of our clinical work is remote work. At least one evening is required.
