POSITION TITLE: SENIOR MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER, NORTHEAST 

Location:     Remote/Online (Default)/In person meetings, as needed (preference for someone who lives somewhere between MA and VA) 

Organization:        URJ

Reporting to:        Director, Major Gifts 

Start Date:        ASAP 

Salary Range:        $110,000 - $120,000 plus competitive benefits package 

Level/Salary Grade:     Subject Matter Expert 3 / 6 

THE ROLE 

The Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Development team seeks a relationship focused and strategic Senior Major Gifts Officer to grow the participation, impact and reputation of the URJ and its core programs to increase involvement, engagement and financial support for priority initiatives. With a focus on the Northeast, the Officer will develop and manage a pipeline of donors and prospects through the identification of prospects, stewardship, and solicitation of donors.   

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

The Senior Major Gifts Officer, Northeast, reports to the Director of Major Gifts and is responsible for the following: 

  • Manage a portfolio of 100+ major donors and prospects within the catchment area, ensuring timely, appropriate, and meaningful donor engagement and solicitation. 

  • Build a pipeline of donors who have potential to give larger gifts. 

  • Coordinate donor appointments with key professional and lay leaders within the catchment area. 

  • Plan and execute major donor cultivation and stewardship activities/events. 

  • Actively contribute to development team by supporting colleagues, collaborating on projects, and sharing information. 

  • Attend and participate in development team meetings, major gift meetings and other activities as assigned and appropriate. 

  • Accurately update and maintain major donor/prospect information and activity in donor database system.  

  • Support URJ org-wide priorities and other duties as assigned.  

WHO YOU ARE & KEYS TO SUCCESS (THE MUST-HAVES): 

To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas: 

  • Fundraising. Proven ability to secure major gifts of $5,000+. 3+ years’ experience and proven success in major gift fundraising.  

  • Relationship Building. Skilled in relationship development with donors, lay leaders, clergy and colleagues. Ability to identify and cultivate new prospects.  

  • Data & Project Management. Knowledge of and experience with a CRM database, (Salesforce preferred). Highly organized, detail-oriented, and strategic in project management, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-oriented environment. 

  • Reform Judaism. Understanding and appreciation of Reform Judaism or willingness to learn about it.       

  • REDI (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). Ability to learn about and prioritize and execute on Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion (i.e., ableism, LGBTQ+ Inclusion, antiracism, etc.) priorities.  

  • Communication. Ability to articulate and execute a vision for the growth and success of the organization. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to utilize different forms of relevant communication. 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Desired candidates have experience in fundraising and/or working in the Jewish community and are comfortable soliciting gifts of $5K+.  

  • Occasional in-person meetings, as needed
