Position Summary

Volunteer in Israel – a joint initiative of Taglit – Birthright Israel and the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) – will be primarily tasked with implementing and growing the "Volunteer in Israel" project, which seeks to deepen the engagement of young Jewish adults through meaningful volunteer experiences that support the rebuilding of Israel.

This role will work closely with JFNA as well as various Jewish Federations across North America and other partner organizations, facilitating volunteer groups, providing critical program support, overseeing reporting and data analysis, and ensuring consistent inter-organizational communications. The Director will play a key role in strengthening and expanding the initiative's impact across the North American Jewish communal landscape.

Compensation

  • $125,000-$140,000
  • FLSA: Exempt

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new partnership opportunities to expand the reach and impact of the Volunteer in Israel initiative, leveraging existing relationships that Taglit – Birthright Israel and JFNA have built while also identify new partner pathways and opportunities.
  • Support and expand the engagement and participation of existing Jewish Federations and other partner organizations in Volunteer in Israel, encouraging and facilitating their activation of volunteer groups to Israel, acting as an advisor and resource.
  • Facilitate program coordination with the Taglit – Birthright Israel team in Israel to ensure smooth volunteer experiences, addressing challenges and optimizing outcomes.
  • Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting to provide meaningful insights on participation and impact to Jewish Federations and Birthright Israel stakeholders.
  • Lead the creation and dissemination of resources and materials to support Jewish Federations and partner organizations in volunteer recruitment, preparation, and follow-up.
  • Maintain transparent and consistent communication with internal teams across both TaglitBirthright Israel and the JFNA, sharing updates and strategic opportunities.
  • Support Volunteer in Israel fundraising efforts by collaborating with the Jewish Federation system and the Birthright Israel Foundation to prepare written materials for funding requests and reporting to donors and stakeholders.
  • Provide updates and support communication to the Volunteer in Israel Advisory Committee, as well as other related leadership groups.
  • Ensure that Volunteer in Israel stays aligned with and benefits from other related strategies and activities being pursued by Taglit – Birthright Israel and JFNA.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience in the Jewish community; experience working with/in the Jewish Federation system and/or the Israel educational travel field preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-stakeholder partnerships and complex projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data management and program reporting.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and collaborate.
  • Experience supporting fundraising and grant writing processes is highly desirable.
  • A self-driven and strategic mindset with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Passion for Israel engagement, volunteerism, and community building.
  • Comfortable working in a cross-organizational leadership role with flexibility for travel and variable hours.
