Executive Director

 

The Columbia Jewish Federation (CJF) in South Carolina is seeking an exceptional candidate, who is an empathic, highly motivated, and effective leader and manager, to serve as its next Executive Director (ED).  As the umbrella organization for the Jewish community, the CJF provides direct services and supports programs through affiliated organizations to enhance the vitality and well-being of Jewish life in South Carolina’s capital city and the home of the University of South Carolina.

 

At the core of the Executive Director’s responsibilities is the advancement of the CJF’s:

Vision: A thriving Jewish Community that is welcoming, inclusive, informed, educated and engaged;

Mission: Engage and strengthen our community to build a vibrant Jewish future; and

Values: Tikkun Olam, K-lal Yisrael, and Tzedakah.  

 In addition to the general management of the CJF, the Executive Director will be responsible for continuing to develop and pursue three strategic initiatives adopted by the CJF Board of Directors:  

  1. Engage and enlarge the active Jewish Community;
  2. Develop and sustain leadership within the Jewish Community, especially among young adults; and
  3. Enhance the Federation’s financial resource development (FRD) including new and more effective ways to acquire funds as well as to bring innovations to the annual Campaign.

 

 The successful candidate should have:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Successful experience in financial resource development (annual campaigns as well as the successful cultivation of donors for legacy gifts);
  • A record of accomplishment as a collaborative, servant leader and highly successful manager of boards, staff, volunteers and community members;
  • Successful experience in lay leadership development, especially young leadership;
  • A commitment to life-long learning;
  • The ability to think and act strategically; and
  • Demonstrated their commitment to the values of Tikkun Olam, K-lal Yisrael and tzedakah.

 

Salary range: $100,000 to $120,000 commensurate with experience.
