Temple Beth El (TBE), a vibrant synagogue located in the South Whitehall neighborhood of Allentown, PA and affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, is seeking a Religious School and Jewish Family Education Administrative Assistant.



Religious School and Jewish Family Education Administrative Assistant Job Description

 

Seeking an exceptional individual to serve as Administrative Assistant for our Religious School grades Pre-K through 12th and become an integral member of our team.      



Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Record keeping and organization for a school office, involving student and teacher records, registration and progress reports
  • General administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and events, ordering supplies and food for programs
  • Answer phone calls, retrieve voice mails, take accurate messages
  • Managing Religious School mailings to faculty and school population
  • Maintaining paperwork, reports and files, as required to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Serving as an initial point of contact for families, responding to telephone and in-person inquiries, greeting all with warmth and welcome
  • Assisting parents, students, and teachers 
  • Assisting with preparation of and running Jewish Family Education programs



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

 

  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Google Suite) 
  • Experience with ShulCloud and Canva (a plus but not necessary)
  • Flexible team player who is willing to pitch in where needed, including in the classrooms
  • Highly detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to interact with parents and children, using discretion, good judgement, compassion and firmness
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at a time, excellent follow up skills
  • Self-starter and quick learner
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, warm and outgoing personality
  • Previous experience in an office environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Hebrew, Jewish customs, holidays and traditions is helpful but not essential
  • Previous experience working with children

 

Other

  • Sunday, afternoon, and evening availability required
  • Occaisional Shabbat and holiday attendance required
  • Access to a vehicle required
