Description

The Hospice of Abramson Senior Care is seeking a Full Time Jewish Chaplain to function as a Spiritual Care Coordinator with a particular emphasis in Jewish patient/family/staff care. The Spiritual Care Coordinator plans, assesses, and cares for a patient's spiritual needs throughout the end-of-life process as well as provides spiritual support to caregivers and the hospice interdisciplinary team. The Spiritual Care Coordinator works in collaboration with community clergy as desired by the patient/caregiver and assists with memorial services and bereavement activities as appropriate. 

Reporting to the Director of Psychosocial Support, the Spiritual Care Coordinator develops and implements individualized spiritual plans of care based on assessment & consultation with other team members as well as participates in regularly scheduled interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate the spiritual care of the client/caregiver, exchange information and problem solve, and receive staff support and education. 

Requirements

Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of theology required; Master's degree in theological studies and completion of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) preferred. Must be endorsed by and in good standing with the denomination or faith group that recognized the Spiritual Care Coordinator, as evidenced by a certificate of ordination or certification.

Qualifications - Ability to develop and maintain rapport with caregiver and clients; demonstrated experience in working with clients and caregivers coping with terminal illness and death; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities; knowledge of Hospice philosophy/palliative care and Medicare Hospice benefit rules & regulations.

Experience - Experience in providing ecumenical approach in pastoral care. Experience in client/caregiver counseling.
