Role: Director of Development

Reports to: CEO

 

About UJA-JCC Greenwich:  Greenwich is a vibrant, growing Jewish community.

Our high energy team at UJA-JCC is focused on our mission to enrich, support and connect Jewish Greenwich and Jewish communities in Israel and worldwide with exceptional cultural and educational programs, advocacy and Jewish philanthropy. With an annual campaign of 1.4 million dollars and another 2 million in donor-directed giving, we are looking to grow our annual campaign, create an endowment, and expand our highly regarded programming.  We have an entrepreneurial spirit and are focused on growth, positive change, and community impact.

 

Responsibilities

The Director of Development is responsible for building the fundraising base of UJA-JCC Greenwich, cultivating new donors, stewarding current donors, developing paths for each level of giving and identifying how UJA-JCC Greenwich can best serve the community. Specifically, this role has three responsibility areas: (1) Women’s Philanthropy, (2) Broader Development, and (3) Major Events. Each of these is core to UJA-JCC’s Greenwich’s Development success

  • (1) Women’s Philanthropy (WP)
    • Development and stewardship of the WP Board inclusive of growing the WP community external to the Board
      • Oversees the implementation of recruitment, logistics, agenda and materials preparation, guest speakers, meeting minutes and follow-up items, ensuring timely delivery and accuracy, for all WP programs and meetings
    • Leadership cultivation and development
    • Leads effort to grow the Lion of Judah society ($5,000+ annual gift)
    • Recruit for Lions of Judah Conference biannually and other national/international
       missions and special events                             
    • Identify leaders for nomination to National Women's Philanthropy and Young Leadership Cabinet 
  • (2) Development
    • Develop measurable outcomes to evaluate effectiveness and fundraising of (1) all programming, (2) meeting with and allocating resources to PJ Library, Women’s Philanthropy, and Major Donors, (3) other measures as identified as relevant and necessary by the COO
      • Overseen by CEO
      • Oversee the Jigsaw Marketing campaign strategy relationship
      • Design and implement strategies for more structured donor stewardship and integrating targeted programming by giving levels
      • Create and own a donor stewardship calendar for professional staff
    • Annual Campaign
      • Work in partnership with the UJA-JCC Greenwich team in fundraising efforts and help create an annual campaign plan
    • Annual Report: Data collection, data presentation, report outline and compilation
      • Ensure the Annual Report is published accurately and in a timely manner
    • Cultivate and steward donor prospects and carry a personal portfolio of donors
    • Maintain effective communication with JFNA and participate in their professional development offerings
    • Newcomer Engagement
      • Meet with newcomers to engage them in the Jewish community and the work of UJA-JCC Greenwich which includes responsibility for welcome bags

 

  • (3) Major Events:
  • Ownership completely over the event including partnering with C-Level employees and the Board to identify and contract with speakers, identify co-chairs, organize the events

            Serve as Event Lead and coordinate vendor management for events such as:

  • WP Fall Brunch
  • Annual Gala
  • The Black Family Community Forum
  • Lion of Judah Annual Event
  • Ad hoc major events, e.g., Douglas Murray, Einat Wilf, Eylon Levy, Noa Tishby

 

 Salary Commensurate with experience

Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of professional work experience, including fundraising, in a non-profit organization or equivalent
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Supports Israel’s right to exist as the Jewish homeland and identifies as a Zionist
  • Knowledge of Jewish values, holidays, traditions, and culture and Israel
  • Competence in databases and spreadsheets, including basic programs (Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel), email marketing programs (such as Constant Contact). Blackbaud Raiser's Edge experience is a plus
  • This is a full-time, exempt position that requires some nights and Sundays. Applicants should be able to lift 30 lbs. without risk of injury
