BACKGROUND

 

The Organization

National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is the oldest Jewish feminist civil rights organization working for equity and justice for women, children, and families in the United States and Israel. Through the efforts of our 210,000 grassroots advocates and 50 local sections, NCJW combines education, direct service, and advocacy to affect lasting social change at the local, state, and national levels.

We approach our work Jewishly and through the intersections of gender, economic, and racial justice to center those most impacted. NCJW's intersectional work in progressive and Jewish spaces has resulted in deep partnerships with secular and faith-based human rights organizations, BIPOC-led grassroots organizations, and governmental allies. NCJW has lead roles in many civil rights coalitions and legacy networks.

 

The Position

The Chief Field Engagement Officer at National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) will play a crucial role in fostering a strong network and driving leadership development initiatives. The position is responsible for developing and implementing successful field engagement strategies to build NCJW’s overall capacity, align the network, and enhance the organization's visibility and impact. They will be values-driven, agile, curious, and foster an environment of joy and collaboration while amplifying the voices of change-makers across the country. Based in Washington, DC, the Chief Field Engagement Officer oversees three departments — National Campaigns and Partnerships, Field Engagement, and Leadership Development — and reports to the CEO.

During an exciting period of growth at NCJW, this role is critical for expanding our collective impact, growing our network of engaged leaders, and facilitating grassroots changemaking across the United States and Israel. A new role, the Chief Field Engagement Officer will foster greater alignment across the NCJW network, manage large organizational change. strengthen leadership development opportunities and accelerate local engagement.

 

ROLE OVERVIEW

 

Network Building

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for building and expanding our network across the country.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local affiliates, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen the organization's presence and build for the future.

 

Leadership Development

  • Design and execute leadership development programs for leaders, advocates, and key stakeholders.
  • Identify and nurture emerging leaders within the organization, providing them with opportunities for growth and advancement.

 

Field Strategy

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align field engagement strategies with the overall organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement plans for regional growth, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values.
  • Utilize program and content to drive education and engagement in support of NCJW’s mission.

 

Capacity Building

  • Assess the needs and capacities of local affiliates, providing support and resources to enhance their effectiveness.
  • Implement training programs to equip regional leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge for successful operations.
  • Oversee program and resources to build issue fluency and leadership capacity.
  • Drive strategies that strengthen impact and grow our leadership network.
  • Participate in revenue generation for the organization, including engaging in regional fundraising for collaborative operations.

 

Collaboration and Communication

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among local affiliates, ensuring a unified approach towards organizational goals.
  • Act as a liaison between NCJW HQ and local affiliates, conveying information and ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.

 

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Utilize data and analytics to assess the performance of the entire network and identify areas for improvement.
  • Report on field engagement metrics, presenting findings to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.

 

Budget Oversight

  • Work with the finance team to develop and manage budgets related to field engagement activities.

 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience building and leading successful teams and projects
  • Proven success in field engagement, network building, and leadership development
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Significant experience working with, overseeing cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams
  • Supervisory experience, including coaching and/or mentorship
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a diverse team
  • Experience in strategic visioning, goal setting, and evaluation
  • Experience inspiring and training leaders to lead impact
  • Ability to design and execute a cohesive engagement plan
  • Excellent listening and relationship-building skills
  • Passion for NCJW’s mission
  • Willingness to travel

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Experience with a grassroots-based membership or volunteer organization
  • Prior experience with Jewish communal organizations
  • Ability to manage a complex budget

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

 

Salary: $180,000 - $200,000

 

Paid Federal and Jewish Holidays.
