We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Office Assistant and Communications Coordinator to join our team and support our mission of serving our members and fostering a sense of belonging within our congregation.

Job Summary: The Office Assistant and Communications Coordinator will play a crucial role in assisting with general office tasks, managing communications, and maintaining our online presence. This position requires a detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and communicative individual who can effectively engage with our congregation members and enhance our online and offline outreach efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Office Administration:
  • Greet and assist visitors and members in person and over the phone.
  • Provide general administrative support to staff as needed
  1. Communications:
  • Draft, edit, and proofread written communications, including newsletters, emails, and announcements.
  • Collaborate with clergy and staff to create and disseminate communications related to events, programs, and important updates.
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from members and the community.
  • Coordinate with volunteers and staff to ensure timely communication.
  1. Social Media and Web Development:
  • Manage and update the synagogue's website, ensuring content is current, relevant, and engaging.
  • Create and schedule social media posts across various platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Develop and implement a content calendar for online platforms.
  • Monitor online engagement and respond to comments and messages.
  • Stay up-to-date with social media and web development trends to enhance our online presence.


  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with website content management systems.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and social media management tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions and synagogue life is a plus but not required.
