Location: Congregation Beth El, South Orange, NJ
Job Type: Part-Time (Saturdays Only)
Schedule: Saturday Mornings, approximately 10:45-12:00

Position Summary:

Congregation Beth El, a warm and inclusive Conservative synagogue, is seeking a dynamic and engaging Shabbat Club Leader to lead our Shabbat morning program for children in PreK through 4th grade. This position is perfect for someone who loves working with young children, is knowledgeable about Jewish traditions, and wants to help foster a love of Shabbat, community, and Jewish learning in a fun and meaningful way.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a weekly Shabbat morning program with tefillah (prayer), songs, stories, games, and interactive activities appropriate for PreK–4th grade.
• Create a welcoming and joyful Jewish environment that emphasizes Shabbat values and age-appropriate Jewish learning.
• Incorporate experiential and play-based learning methods that engage a variety of learners.
• Maintain a safe and organized environment.
• Coordinate with the synagogue's education staff to align with broader youth and family engagement goals.
• Build relationships with children and parents, helping foster a sense of community and belonging.

Qualifications:

• Experience working with young children in formal or informal settings (e.g., school, camp, youth groups).
• Knowledge of Shabbat prayers, rituals, and basic Jewish customs and values; familiarity with Conservative Judaism a plus.
• Shabbat Prayer Proficiency 
• Strong communication and group management skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and energetic.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for Jewish education.
• Ability to lead songs, tell stories, and facilitate age-appropriate Jewish content.

Compensation:

Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
