Position Overview:
We are looking for a professional, proactive, and highly organized Administrative Assistant to support the planning, coordination, and execution of events at Temple Isaiah. The ideal candidate is a natural problem solver, enjoys working with people, is well-versed vs comfortable with technology, and provides outstanding customer service. This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of all aspects of temple life, including Shabbat services, educational programming, lifecycle events, meetings and community gatherings.
This role requires regular evening and weekend hours to support key temple events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support for all temple events, including coordination of calendar, room set ups, security, and food.
- Collaborate closely with clergy, facilities team, staff, and volunteers to anticipate and meet logistical needs.
- Create diagrams for event setups, including physical and technical arrangements.
- Help to manage the execution of selected events
- Serves as the primary point person for rentals (primarily B’Mitzvah), managing vendors, deliveries, etc.
- Ensure the building is ready for programs, including room configuration, signage, and hospitality.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements for event operations.
- Is an essential member of the synagogue's Administrative team.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to inquiries with warmth and professionalism.
- Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to take initiative and solve problems independently.
- Able to work independently as well as in partnership with others in a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in basic office software (Microsoft Office, database management systems, zoom, etc); comfort learning new systems.
- Experience supporting or coordinating events and logistics, preferably in a nonprofit or congregational setting.
- Ability to lift and move supplies and furniture as needed for event setup.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends on a regular basis.
Preferred Qualities:
- Familiarity with Jewish holidays and lifecycle events (or willingness to learn).
- Experience with event management systems or facility scheduling tools.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable troubleshooting AV and hybrid meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom).
Compensation and Benefits:
- This full-time position (37 hours/week) including regular evenings and weekends
- The salary range is $52,000 to $62,000, commensurate with experience
- Our comprehensive benefit package includes medical and dental insurance, a 403(b)-retirement plan, as well as vacation and paid sick time
- Temple Isaiah is closed for up to 11 federal holidays and 8 Jewish holidays and closes at 2:00 pm on Friday. Administrative Assistant - Events and Logistics may work some Jewish holidays.
