About the Organization:  

Olami Manhattan is a downtown NYC hub of Jewish education offering classes, one-on-one mentoring, workshops, educational trips, and special events to unaffiliated young professionals. Olami is looking for a self-starter candidate who can plan and structure events and programming, while keeping a finger on the pulse of Jewish young professional life in NYC for an approximate 15-week maternity cover (May – August). 

 

Responsibilities:   

  • Create and execute events from planning to execution.   
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors  
  • Understand and maintain event budget alongside the COO   
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop creative strategies and themes for events   
  • Proactively forward plan upcoming events, Jewish holidays and Community events  
  • Maintain the organization Calendars for multiple locations    
  • Keep track of office and event inventory and replenish as needed   
  • Establish and obtain specific supplies for programming e.g. books, program paraphernalia, themed event supplies   
  • Create weekly organization meeting agenda   
  • Liase with internal and external educators & team members to curate boutique events  
  • Work with external event planner for the upcoming June Gala. 

 

Required Experience:   

  • 3+ years operations experience, including events and programs  
  • 3+ years related experience in a non-profit, the Arts or events industry   
  • Highly creative and resourceful with the ability to develop and implement innovative ideas for programs and events.   
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.  
  • Strong professionalism dealing with outside vendors and stakeholders  
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks  
  • Strong ability to meet tight deadlines  
  • work in a rapidly changing environment  
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Gmail, slack   
  • Strong knowledge of Food and beverage, laws of kosher, cultural and entertainment trends.  
  • Be familiar with Jewish holidays
