Overview:

Founded in 1977, Goldberg Montessori School (GMS), an independent preschool located in Houston (Bellaire), Texas , seeks a professional, forward-thinking, and caring Head of School to lead our remarkable Jewish Montessori program. The school is licensed for 130 Children and currently has 23 staff members.

 

The Head of School is responsible for the leadership of a strong Montessori preschool program while using the mission and values of GMS to guide. GMS prides itself on providing a nurturing environment that facilitates learning. Our school’s commitment is to “Honor the Path of the Child.”

 

The Head of School works closely with lay leadership and reports to the Board Chair.

 

The Work:

Leadership and Community Relations

  • Promote mission and vision of the school
  • Communicate with staff and parents
  • Pursue personal professional development opportunities and encourage opportunities for staff/teachers
  • Craft and lead strategic planning and goal setting
  • Oversee school marketing

 

Governance and Finance

  • Collaborate with Board of Directors
  • In conjunction with the treasurer and school accountant, prepare and oversee school budget and finance
  • Perform development responsibilities    

 

Supervision and Staffing

  • Lead and supervise staff, including conducting classroom observations, performing teacher and staff evaluations, and partnering with staff on their own professional development goals
  • Support staff in working with children and families to ensure success of all students
  • Oversee hiring, including presenting and preparing staff contracts annually

 

Administrative and Facilities

  • Hold state licensing for Director 
  • Arrange for facilities work
  • Maintain contracts and relationships with vendors

  • A love and knowledge of Judaism and Jewish education
  • Teaching and/or school administration experience
  • A knowledge base of child development, and progressive early childhood practices
  • Master’s degree desired, but not required
  • Credentials in Montessori education (can be obtained during employment)

 

Schedule & Benefits

Full Time, Year-Round, Monday-Friday
