Position: Director, Director of Women’s Philanthropy

Jewish Community Federation of Richmond is seeking our next Director of Women’s Philanthropy.

 

The individual chosen for this role will be a visionary, collaborative and innovative leader with a deep understanding of and commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Jewish Community Federation. They will be passionate about community building, inspiring others and people. They will excel at crafting innovative and effective fundraising, relationship management and community engagement strategies that raise up both people and resources. They will be an outgoing, dynamic presence with strong leadership, relationship building and communication skills.

Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer (CPO), the Director of Women’s Philanthropy is a key member of the Financial Resource Development Team and provides key leadership to the organization, working closely with a dynamic and engaged volunteer team including the Women’s Philanthropy Chair and Committees, and Financial Resource Development Committee.

 

Job Roles:

  • Enhance the Women’s Philanthropy department’s philanthropic achievement, with a focus on increasing donor numbers, involvement and leadership.
  • Drive growth and involvement in Women’s philanthropy, including community building, annual and supplemental giving, Lion of Judah and Lion of Judah endowment giving and supplemental gifts.
  • Work collaboratively with lay and professional teams to steward annual donors towards multi-year, major and planned gifts.
  • Lead and inspire a group of volunteer leadership to be active, engaged ambassadors throughout the community.
  • Lead an engagement philosophy which helps individuals connect to Jewish life in Richmond and globally, eventually leading them to increased giving, involvement and leadership.
  • Develop and utilize skills in Excel, Microsoft Dynamics, Word, Teams and other relevant technological and data analytic tools to accurately manage information and perform other job duties.
  • Acts as project manager for special projects that may include working independently to plan and coordinate multiple presentations, disseminating information and coordinating strategies and/or meetings.
  • Exercise good judgment, attention to detail and decision-making skills and use strong interpersonal skills when communicating with donors and colleagues, responding to inquiries and correspondence from donors and colleagues in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Success Factors:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in similar roles; nonprofit experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Immersive understanding of the non-profit sector, the Jewish community, the Federation system and the social impact of fundraising on Jewish organizations.
  • Experience with “Moves Management,” increasing year-to-year giving and securing large gifts.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, bringing an innovative approach to business planning.
  • Effective and persuasive communication skills, including an ability to prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Maturity, sound judgment and high ethical standards.
  • Analytical, yet creative; humble and empathetic.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Tech-savvy, adaptable, and a team player.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and operate effectively in a culture of rapid change.
