Our client, The Aleph Institute  www.aleph-institute.org   is seeking a charismatic and experienced Director of Institutional Advancement to join our growing Development team to introduce and engage supporters, mainly through funding, to Aleph’s mission. We’re looking for a person who is comfortable in a sales type of role and enjoys developing relationships with others. Utilizing creativity and personality to engage supporters in the work is necessary for this position. The primary focus is meeting and working with donors and prospects with significant giving capacity to accomplish their giving objectives through annual giving and major gifts.

The Director of Institutional Advancement will engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle, including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship. The target for the Director’s portfolio will be to cultivate relationships primarily with people who have been previously moved by/affected by Aleph’s work, lapsed donors, engaging potential donors, and may also include current donors with an eye towards increasing support.

This is a full-time position on the Development team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. The New York Tri-state area or South Florida are locations where candidates should live.

Main Responsibilities Include:

  • Solicit major gift prospects with appropriate asks, based upon donor intent and interest.
  • Stewardship of major gift donors: develop stewardship strategies that continue the major gift relationship for future gifts and planned giving opportunities.
  • Interact with donor leads, Grant and Foundation leads
  • 1:1 meetings with existing and new donors
  • Manage and maintain regular correspondence with donors and supporters, including providing organizational updates and personal interaction
  • Conduct calls to members and to non-affiliated leads to solicit campaign giving

Qualifications and Skills:

  • At least ten years prior experience in Fundraising
  • Great at developing new relationships
  • Social media, Google Suite, CRM (Salesforce a plus), and e-mail marketing experience, a plus
  • Excellent cross-cultural and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
