The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh seeks a detail oriented, dynamic, motivated, and entrepreneurial professional for the role of Development Associate. This is a full time, professional exempt position. The Development Associate will manage the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, which supports need-based scholarships for families seeking Jewish education in our community, as well as corporate sponsorship and the State College Campaign. This position is a key member of the Development and Financial Resource Development team. Due to the nature of this role, infrequent travel by automobile evenings and weekends will be required for organization sponsored events.

EITC: Coordinate all aspects of the EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program. Develop a deep understanding of the EITC program and its related entities (OSTC, Pre-K, and SPEs). Coordinate operational tasks internally with a multidepartment team to ensure a smooth, successful, and compliant EITC campaign. Manage written and verbal communications with prospects, donors, state government agencies, Jewish day schools and pre-k agencies.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Cultivate relationships with the Jewish Day Schools, Pre-K agencies, and other EITC Programs throughout Pennsylvania.
• Ensure state regulations and policies that govern the EITC program are current and in compliance with the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh.
• Steward current and identify new donors to the EITC program.

Manages the fundraising operations for the State College, PA Jewish Federation. The Development Associate works collaboratively with the State College campaign chair/committee to ensure successful annual campaigns. This includes but is not limited to management and organization of the State College donor data base, marketing needs, donor questions, and the coordination of accounting operations.

Cultivates and steward relationships with key stakeholders in the Pittsburgh corporate community. Solicits corporate support for Federation programs, events, and fundraising efforts. Develops and maintains corporate sponsorship materials and ensures organizational compliance with the offerings.

Handles Annual Campaign responsibilities as needed. This position attends fundraising phoning
sessions. Participates in special events, recognition, and stewardship programs, as appropriate.


The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with leadership, all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors.
• Ability to manage various projects and work in a fast-paced deadline driven environments.
• Must possess a demonstrated record of completing assignments with a high level of accuracy.
• Knowledgeable and passionate about the Jewish community locally, in Israel and around the world.
• Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.
• Excellent organizational ability, as well as oral and written communications skills.
• Flexible perspective – the ability to work with processes and systems that are evolving and subject to change.

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3-5 years' experience in a nonprofit environment.
• Proven success in fundraising.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel strongly preferred.
• Background in legal, financial operations or accounting is a plus.
• PA child protection certifications will be required.
• Must hold a current Pennsylvania driver's license and maintain throughout employment.

The nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. This role will have prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer. Infrequent travel by automobile with the availability for additional hours including nights and weekends at organization sponsored events will be required. A valid driver's license must be maintained throughout employment.

To commensurate with experience this position has a competitive hiring range of $50,000 to $60,000 annually. The Federation offers a competitive benefits package when compared to other non-profits.
