Temple Emanuel in Newton, MA is looking for a motivated Community Engagement Coordinator and Assistant to Rabbi Aliza Berger.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about meeting young adults and building community, warm and welcoming, creative, thoughtful, dynamic, organized, curious, and able to engage a wide range of volunteers and participants. 

The Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for building and sustaining multiple Jewish young professional communities through programming, social media, and one-on-one “coffee dates” with interested young adults.  Additionally, this position includes some support for Rabbi Aliza Berger including scheduling, media design, and program coordination. 

Responsibilities:

  • Build and engage multiple Jewish young professional and social communities
  • Create and execute programs for anywhere between 20-75 attendees
  • Maintain social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Slack
  • Design event graphics and marketing materials for programs
  • Provides daily support for Rabbi Aliza Berger including scheduling, communication, calendar maintenance, administrative tasks, organizing and preparing for meetings or life-cycle events
  • Work as a team with Rabbi Aliza Berger on programs, outreach, and opportunities for the wider Temple Emanuel community
  • Help coordinate social justice initiatives within the Temple Emanuel community

  • Is comfortable mobilizing social media to engage community and build connections
  • Is self-motivated and highly organized, able to manage multiple projects and initiatives concurrently with drive, patience, and a sense of humor
  • Is a team player who develops collaborative and productive relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Has solid experience with design & website software including Constant Contact and Canva
  • Is familiar with database management/data entry
  • Is a confident self-starter who asks questions, anticipates issues, and tackles problems and obstacles
