Religious School Teacher (Grades 4–5)

Location: Congregation B’nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525

Schedule: Sundays 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and Wednesdays 4:00 – 5:30 PM

Congregation B’nai Jacob is seeking a warm, engaging, and structured teacher for a combined 4th–5th grade class. This role focuses on helping students build strong Hebrew reading skills while fostering a meaningful connection to Jewish learning, including biblical stories, holidays, and values.

Class size is approximately 8–12 students.

Responsibilities:

• Teach Hebrew reading, prayers, weekly Torah portion, holidays, and Jewish values using provided curriculum

• Prepare and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons

• Reinforce Hebrew reading, pronunciation, and key vocabulary

• Create a structured, supportive classroom environment

• Communicate with parents and provide updates on student progress

• Work collaboratively with madrichim (teen aides) and staff

Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Hebrew (reading required; fluency a plus)

• Experience working with children (teaching, camp, youth group, or madrich/a experience)

• Strong communication and classroom management skills

• Ability to engage upper elementary students while maintaining clear expectations

• Familiarity with Jewish traditions, holidays, and Torah content

Commitment:

• Sundays: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• Wednesdays: 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

• September 16, 2026 – May 16, 2027 (with scheduled breaks)

Compensation:

$50–$65 per hour, based on experience
