Club Spark is a unique place for kids to play and learn. We offer a premium Afterschool Enrichment Program with a fun and full curriculum, all through a Jewish lens. We teach Jewish holidays, values and Hebrew in an experiential, camp-style environment and through fun, hands-on activities. And you don’t have to be Jewish or speak Hebrew to teach at or attend Club Spark. All are welcome!

Club Spark Afterschool teachers care for students, facilitate programming and activities according to the routine and schedule set by the Club Spark Director, while supporting positive child development. At Club Spark, our staff works together to build community, nurture friendships, and create a positive, inclusive and joyful Jewish environment where every student can thrive.

We’re looking for:

  • Positive, reliable, learning-minded and energetic individuals.
  • Experience working with school-age children.
  • Availability weekday afternoons 1:00 PM- 6:15 PM.
  • Familiarity with Hebrew, Jewish holidays, and culture is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a clean driving record.

Teaching Responsibilities: Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • You will help execute meaningful, engaging, fun activities (from the lesson plans provided) that reflect Club Spark’s learning goals. You’ll have our Curriculum Map and lots of ideas to guide you, and you'll always have at least one additional staff member or the director working beside you.
  • Be present and active when working with students including community (circle) time, homework, snack, activities, Hebrew, outdoor and playground time.
  • Complete tasks in collaboration with the Afterschool Director. Among them:
  • Document lesson plans and student learning.
  • Attend holiday celebrations and promotional events (such as open houses, festival booths, etc.). (paid)
  • Play an active role in daily preparation.
  • Drive the Club Spark van daily to pick up students from local schools.

 

Other Essential Job Duties and Requirements

  • Deliver nurturing care and continuous supervision of students.
  • Maintain consistency in classroom management.
  • Consistently follow the Club Spark policies and procedures.
  • Attend all site meetings and required training meetings.
  • Maintain the upkeep of the Club Spark Clubhouse, other rooms and equipment inside and outside.
  • Consistently role model developmentally appropriate behavior and language for children.
  • Maintain positive and open communication with parents, co-workers and the Club Spark Director.
  • Consistently interact in a positive developmentally appropriate way with students.
  • Immediately report all accidents, injuries and/or illnesses to the Director.
  • Assist students when necessary, regarding dressing or restroom needs.
  • Report health and safety issues to the Director.
  • Maintain First Aid, Fire Safety and CPR certification.
  • Participate in the minimum number of annual training hours based on Club Spark and State requirements. 
  • Know and follow regulations regarding the reporting of child abuse.
  • Attendance of Children - All teachers must take attendance of their group as they enter or exit a classroom, playground or field trip. Teachers are also responsible for knowing where each child in your care is at all times throughout the day. 
  • Your attendance – being punctual and present as full and devoted attendance is an essential job function.
  • Field Trip – anytime that you are on a field trip with Club Spark students, you are acting as a representative of Club Spark and should act accordingly and always in a professional manner.
  • Full comprehension of the Club Spark curriculum.
  • Full understanding of Club Spark’s policies and procedures.
  • Each teacher/staff member is responsible for maintaining a good, professional working relationship with every other teacher/staff member.
  • Confidentiality: Teachers shall never share negative information about a Club Spark student (other than with the child’s parent or guardian or the Director) with any other parent or staff members.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director.
  • Work as a TEAM and HAVE FUN! 

 

Physical and Mental Job Duties and Requirements

  • Supervise and interact daily with children indoors and outdoors for extended periods and in variable weather conditions.
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness and an appropriate level of energy to perform essential job requirements.
