Kol Dorot: A Reform Jewish Community, located in Oradell and River Edge, New Jersey, seeks an energetic professional for a part-time, fully remote role providing administrative and communications support to our Senior Rabbi.
Who We Are
Kol Dorot is a Reform synagogue with nearly 600 member households. Kol Dorot was formed in 2019 by the merger of Temple Beth El (Closter) and Temple Beth Or (Washington Township), which both left their historic buildings to found a new community in a new facility in Oradell, New Jersey. In 2024, another local Reform synagogue, Temple Avodat Shalom (River Edge), merged with us and became part of Kol Dorot.
Kol Dorot is a thriving, diverse Jewish community. We are especially proud of our flourishing Early Learning Center and Religious School, the core of a growing community of children and young families. From active affinity groups (Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Empty Nesters, etc.) to social action to adult learning—we are carrying forward the best of the synagogue traditions we have inherited, while adapting and preparing to be a synagogue community for generations to come.
Our clergy team consists of Rabbi Noah Fabricant, PhD, Cantor Sarah Silverberg, and our Rabbi-Educator, Rabbi Anat Katzir. Jessica Gomperts, the President of Kol Dorot, currently serves as Interim Executive Director. Our full-time staff also includes an ELC Director, Facilities Manager, and two administrative staff positions. Learn more about us at www.koldorot.org and www.facebook.com/koldorot.
Who We’re Looking For
The dramatic growth of Kol Dorot in recent years has come with an almost-as-dramatic increase in demands on our Senior Rabbi. Rabbi Noah receives dozens of calls and emails every day that require attention and prompt replies. Kol Dorot seeks an administrative partner for Rabbi Noah to help manage these communications, as well as other administrative aspects of his rabbinic work, so that Rabbi Noah can be available for teaching, counseling, outreach, and other core rabbinic responsibilities.
The ideal candidate for this role will have excellent organizational and time-management skills. They will be self-motivated, identifying opportunities to make valuable contributions. They will be detail-oriented and produce work, whether an email, Instagram post, or thank-you note, that is accurate and well designed. They will be able to communicate effectively and kindly with diverse community members by email and phone. This role requires excellent tech skills, especially in Microsoft Outlook, with the ability to use or learn other applications and platforms (ShulCloud, Canva, Vimeo, Wix, etc.) as needed.
Most importantly, our Rabbi’s Assistant must be able to build a close collaborative relationship with Rabbi Noah. This will require reliability, good humor, and enthusiasm about our Jewish community. The Rabbi’s Assistant must have judgment and discretion to be trusted with confidential and sensitive communications and information.
To help us find the best possible candidate, we have made this position fully remote. The hours and schedule of the position are extremely flexible. We hope this will make it possible for a passionate and skilled professional to join us at Kol Dorot.
Schedule: 15-20 hours/week. While some availability to attend virtual meetings and make phone calls during Eastern Time business hours is required, the schedule is extremely flexible.
Compensation: $28.00/hour

- Maintain the “Mi Shebeirach List” (community members in need of healing); schedule and track follow-up for community members with specific pastoral care needs.
