We are a growing synagogue seeking to fill the position of Administrator who will be responsible for the management, administration, and coordination of all synagogue activities, interact with the membership, clergy, and staff, and oversee operations, the physical plant, the website, and the master calendar in accordance with established policies, goals, and objectives. The position reports to the  synagogue president.


Administration and Communication

  • Interact with synagogue members and address their membership needs.
  • Maintain Shulcloud database of congregant information and lists.
  • Maintain the master calendar of all synagogue-related functions. Schedule the use of synagogue facilities and arrange for requested set-ups.
  • Oversee weekly newsletter.
  • Coordinate and communicate synagogue information among staff, including preschool and religious school staff, custodian, other administrative staff, rabbinic staff, and the synagogue board.
  • Coordinate scheduling of activities for all synagogue groups. Supervise annual planning to ensure a balanced calendar.
  • Assist in the formulation, dissemination, and implementation of administrative policies and procedures.
  • Maintain synagogue website and social media platforms. Update and post relevant information on the website, Facebook, and other social media. Coordinate content updates from committee chairs and staff to keep the website fresh and up to date.
  • Prepare monthly Board of Directors meeting packets and maintain minutes and records.
  • Assist the rabbi in coordinating life-cycle events.
  • Oversee cemetery operations, including record keeping and maintenance.



  • Maintain positive relationships with current members.
  • Be a welcoming contact for potential members, working with the Membership Committee to implement procedures for welcoming and enrolling new members.
  • Maintain accurate membership records that reflect all pertinent data in Shulcloud.


Accounting and Payroll

  • Support budget preparation and monitor expenditures to ensure that expenditures related to office administration do not exceed Board-approved budget line items and are duly authorized.
  • Collaborate with the bookkeeper and Treasurer on preparation of financial reports, payroll and benefit functions, monthly reconciliations.
  • Adhere to financial controls


  • Supervise staff and volunteers who support the synagogue in the areas of administration, maintenance, the kitchen, and special holiday functions.
  • Develop, implement and insure comlaince with office policies and procedures.
  • Accurately track staff vacations, sick leave, and benefits
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the office.

Physical Plant and Supplies

  • Oversee the day-to-day physical operation of the synagogue, including inventory control and purchase of supplies.
  • Develop and oversee the general and preventative maintenance of the synagogue’s facilities and equipment. Manage routine vendor maintenance and participate in vendor selection for new projects.
  • Monitor the use, supplies, and condition of the kitchen as well as adherence to kashrut policies by caterers and staff.


  • Perform other related activities, as necessary or as assigned.



  1. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with congregants, board, staff, and vendors.
  2. Shulcloud experience a plus
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills

  5. Knowledge of trades and repair issues
