Congregation B’nai Tikvah, a vibrant, egalitarian Conservative congregation in Deerfield, IL  

seeks creative, knowledgeable, and passionate teachers for its K-7 religious school. Enthusiastic candidates are needed for the 2025-26 academic year, with classes held on Sundays and weekdays.  We are currently pursuing teachers for 3rd-7th grades with a passion for Jewish education. We are looking for dependable, energetic educators to nurture and support a learning environment where children can explore their Jewish heritage and the Hebrew language.

 

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.

Time:

Sundays from 8:45 am - 12:15 pm. 

Tuesday & Wednesday- 4:15 pm-6:15 pm. 

Paid professional development & staff meetings.

 

Salary:

An Ideal Candidate will:

  • Be passionate about Jewish knowledge, tradition, history, and Israel.
  • Have personal enthusiasm about Judaism and being Jewish.
  • Be a collaborative team player and able to connect with today’s youth.

 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated talent to lead a classroom with enthusiasm, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to teach children all aspects of Jewish studies.
  • Proficiency in the Hebrew language.
  • Knowledge in teaching Prayer (T'filah).
  • Strong Jewish background and knowledge of Jewish tradition, practice, and culture.
  • At least 1-year professional experience working with children in a school, camp, or tutoring setting (Required).

Responsibilities

 

  • Follow the provided curriculum guide and submit lesson plans that are interesting, engaging, and age-appropriate, ensuring that curriculum objectives are met.
  • Build positive relationships with students and parents.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate the diverse needs and learning styles of students.
  • Communicate with parents about student/class progress.
  • Provide written progress reports to the Education Director on student/class progress.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with our madrichim (teacher’s aide- 8th-12th grade students).
  • Handle classroom setup and arrangement.
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
