Job Summary

AJC is experiencing a productive and creative period under its dynamic new CEO, Ted Deutch. New initiatives include a significant investment in growing AJC’s presence in the Palm Beach area, where Ted Deutch resides. AJC believes in investing in success, and AJC’s Palm Beach County Office has been on one of the strongest growth trajectories of any AJC region.

The Assistant Director of Advocacy & Programming will play a pivotal role in advancing our mission by overseeing and driving our advocacy and programming efforts. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of antisemitism, Israel, and international issues, demonstrating the ability to effectively communicate and educate diverse audiences on these topics. A passion for advancing AJC’s mission and a commitment to the extraordinary growth trajectory of the AJC Palm Beach Regional Office are essential. In addition to content expertise, the candidate should be adept at managing projects, events, and programming initiatives, ensuring they align with organizational goals. The Assistant Director of Advocacy & Programming is also responsible for cultivating positive intergroup and political relations.

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel occasionally     
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills with the capacity to comfortably handle a large work volume.
  • Ability to make good decisions, to follow through on agreed upon initiatives, and to work collaboratively, yet independently, when needed.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high ethical standards and values
  • A strong desire to add to a culture of collaboration and feedback
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, and Microsoft Office/Excel.  
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree and 6-8 years of professional experience

 Job Responsibilities

  • Advocacy:
    • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials at local, state, and federal levels.
    • Collaborate with local and national colleagues to develop and implement strategies on legislative issues related to the Jewish community. 
  • Content and Public Speaking:
    • Educate diverse audiences on antisemitism, Israel, and international issues.
    • Stay updated on relevant developments and trends to ensure accurate and current content delivery.
  • Intergroup Relations:
    • Develop and nurture relationships with various faith and ethnic communities.
    • Organize intergroup events and activities to promote understanding and collaboration.
  • Manage Projects:
    • Plan, organize, and execute diverse programming initiatives.
    • Oversee the coordination and implementation of events, ensuring smooth execution of project timelines.
  • Any other tasks as assigned by the Regional Director

The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000, depending on relevant experience.
