Barnert Temple is an innovative Reform Jewish Temple located in Franklin Lakes, NJ (Northern NJ) with 400+ member families and a religious school with over 200 students. 

The Jewish Journey Project (JJP- Religious School) Administrator, administers and executes organizational communication, project management, and office management needs of the Jewish Journey Program and supports the Director of JJP and JJP staff as needed.

Reports to the JJP Director 

Responsibilities of JJP Administrator

  • Serve as a welcoming and friendly first point of contact for congregants, potential new members, and visitors during JJP hours (answer phones, respond to email queries, greets and directs people)
  • Identify, update, and execute JJP office processes and procedures
  • Serve as JJP registrar: track registration forms, vaccination, allergy and pertinent student information, update database, coordinate with the billing department, update contact information, produce and maintain accurate attendance and class lists, etc.
  • Assist to create and distribute publicity and informational material for programming and events
  • Oversee JJP event logistics including attendee tracking, publicity, food, supplies, and room set-up coordination
  • Manage JJP office: track and submit faculty attendance, manage supplies, coordinate mailings, generate annual calendars, and execute assorted clerical tasks as necessary.
  • Assist with coordinating the annual assignment of and communication about B-Mitzvah dates to current 4th/5th grade students and their parents’
  • Work with - and communicate directly and compassionately with - a wide range of stakeholders including students, parents, teachers, clergy, temple office staff, facilities staff, and other congregations while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Assist with real time student care and management during school hours as needed i.e. band aids, ice packs, walking with a student from class, step into the classroom to assist, calling parents etc.
  • Supporting our TAG (enrichment youth activities) advisor and program when appropriate



Part-time position

Approximately 15-16.5 hours per week.

Required: Tuesday/Wednesday 3:00/3:30 pm-7:30 pm

Other day/hours are flexible: Either work longer hours on Tuesday/Wednesday or choose between Monday and Friday between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Phone Coverage is also needed on Sundays from 9:00 am-12:30 pm but NOT required for this position 


This is an hourly, non-exempt position that pays $22-25 per hour.


The temple building is 100% ADA accessible.  The Temple is located in a suburban setting off a major highway; there is no direct public transportation.  Parking is located at the temple.
