Educator & Communications Manager (Full-Time)

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and teach daily in Makom Community’s Lab School 
  2. Coordinate with Director of Strategy on implementing communications calendar
  3. Utilize communication tools to engage the audiences of Makom Community

How will you do that?

Educator 

  • Participate in regular text study and goal setting with Makom’s incredible team of educators.
  • Prepare to teach with the support of an assistant teacher. 
  • Prepare lesson plans for class that are clear what elements you and your assistant teacher will facilitate. 
  • Teach daily in Jewish Enrichment, which runs Monday through Friday from 3-6pm.
  • Grow Makom Community’s culture of intentionality, empathy, and listening deeply to children and their adults.
  • Set goals for your own learning and growth and check in with them regularly in supervision. 
  • Be in a rotation of staff for School’s Out Camp and Extended Enrichment Days.  
  • Have regular supervision with the Director of Teaching and Learning. 

Communications Manager

  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategy and Content Manager on communication strategy & timeline.
  • Co-create the communication calendar and follow the communications calendar to execute the following communications to promote enrollment, events, and sharing success of Makom Community
    • Design and send email campaign communications, including weekly family emails, emails to our entire list serve to promote events and donations, and seminars for our Makom Making initiatives  
    • Review data within Mailchimp and maintain email lists with data provided to you
  • Create and schedule daily Facebook posts.
  • Learn how to update our wordpress website and do website updates when directed.
  • Post blogs on our website and promote blogs in emails. 
  • Coordinate communications across programs to maintain brand consistency.
  • Create new communication materials as needed (using Canva, Mailchimp, and Creative Cloud).
  • Use Asana for project management.
  • Have regular supervision on communications work with our Director of Strategy. 
  • Have monthly communication team meetings with the Director of Strategy and the Educator and Researcher.

Salary Range & Benefits

$47,400-$51,500

  • 3 weeks paid time off and 1 week sick time
    • 10 days available during the school year, with at least 2 weeks advance notice
    • 5 days paid when our office is closed at the end of June
