Congregation Shaarey Zedek (CSZ) is seeking a skilled Marketing & Communications Specialist with 2-4 years of experience, whose main function will be to develop, implement, and coordinate upcoming activities and programs to connect with and engage the congregation and the broader Jewish community in our inclusive, deeply connected, and evolving synagogue.


This candidate is a self-starter who is able to work autonomously and as part of a team of program organizers, clergy, and lay leaders who provide necessary input, as well as designers and other contractors who each help to contribute the components necessary to complete each project. The Marketing & Communications Specialist will take ownership of completing concurrent overlapping assignments in a fast-paced environment with timely and accurate messaging that is consistent with the CSZ brands.


Summary: CSZ is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to plan, coordinate, and implement our marketing and communications projects, consisting of print, electronic, and social media communications that serve to promote the synagogue and its activities throughout the membership and broader Jewish community.


The Marketing & Communications Specialist is a full-time regular on-site position and reports to the Director of Engagement.

Job Roles and Responsibilities
1. Plan, implement, delegate, oversee, and ensure timely completion of multiple simultaneous Marketing & Communications efforts for programs, services, and other messaging.
2. Navigate and synthesize the desires of clergy, management, and Marketing & Communications volunteer team into clear recommended action plans and get buy-in from key stakeholders on communication recommendations.
3. Recommend the most efficient communication channels to use to disseminate the communication(s) including email, newsletter, social media, web site, and print media.
4. Implement the strategy and branding for Communications and Marketing as developed by our clergy and Marketing & Communications volunteer team.
5. Write content proficiently and innovatively, or edit content provided by others, to address communication objectives.
6. Manage website content and maintenance.
7. Partner with Director of Engagement to strategize, plan the calendar for all CSZ promotional efforts and ensure that each daily strategy is implemented.
8. Supervise contract professionals as needed consisting of social media, graphic design, photo/video and web designers.
9. Work closely with Social Media Marketing Campaign consultant to put out Facebook campaigns and paid advertising on social media.
10. Support the Director of Engagement in project management and implementation of other areas as requested.

Qualifications & Skills
1. Advanced project management skills, that include taking the initiative in coordinating and collaborating with outside contractors to deploy concurrent tasks, creating a plan of execution, and ensuring that milestones and deliverables are achieved.
2. Interest and ability to multi-task and thrive in a multi-disciplinary team with multiple priorities, achieving reliable, timely, and complete results.
3. Detail and goal oriented.
4. Excellent writing skills required. Must be able to write clear and concise summaries for newsletters, e-blasts, and social media posts.
5. Familiarity with common social media tools and experience posting and engaging through them.
6. Ability to create simple marketing materials (e.g. thumbnail images, flyers, etc.) through Canva (or similar) to be used in promotional efforts.
7. Ability to update and maintain websites and databases. Knowledge of WordPress or another CMS preferred. Experience using a CRM or other database preferred.
8. Jewish background or familiarity with Jewish customs and practices.
9. Familiarity with the terminology, methods, and concepts of marketing and communications.
10. Experience supervising contractual professionals.
11. Familiarity with the work of graphic designers, social media specialists, photo/video editors, and web designers.

Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending upon experience. CSZ offers a generous benefits package including health insurance, dental, vision, paid vacation and sick leave, and paid Jewish and secular holidays.
