Since 1902, Surprise Lake Camp, an overnight camp in the Hudson Valley of NY has provided a haven for children in the beautiful mountains. The position runs from June 1-August 23, 6 days per week . (start date flexible) Post-camp work is also available.

Site Assistants live on-site, full time at camp with 1-2 other staff (can leave on days/nights off), and camp provides full room and board. (Housing and 3 meals a day).

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to lift heavy loads of 50lbs or more
  • Must be able to work up to 60 hours a week
  • Must have clean driving record and have been licensed for at least five years

Responsibilities

  • Assist with moving beds, mattresses, furniture, and other equipment across camp as needed.
  • Support general maintenance, camp setup, and cleanup throughout the season.
  • Complete scheduled daily runs to the train station, post office, and mall with the site team.
  • Handle luggage loading, unloading, and distribution during camper arrival and departure days.
  • Conduct daily garbage and recycling collection across camp.
  • Assist with daily food, mail, and package deliveries to Teenside.
  • Participate in evening duty rotations and respond to emergencies when needed.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks including fuel, oil, and water levels and report any safety concerns.
  • Serve as a positive role model and support campers when needed.
  • Attend staff orientation, meetings, and meals as part of the camp community.
  • Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines, including reporting concerns related to camper safety or behavior.
  • Assist with camp opening preparations, closing procedures, and final end of summer cleanup.
  • Maintain consistency, responsibility, and professionalism while also taking care of your own wellbeing.
Salary2,450.00 - 2,600.00 Month
